The Dzongri Trek is one of the more remote and spectacular treks in India. The entire trail goes through forests of rhododendron, pine, oak and chestnut trees, offering numerous birding opportunities and not to mention the stunning vistas of some of the highest mountains in the world.As you climb higher, the trail opens up to reveal breathtaking views of some of the highest peaks, offering a mesmerizing backdrop for every step. The trek starts from a sleepy hamlet in west Sikkim called Yuksom. Bakkhim and Tshoka are two tiny villages that one comes across on this route. This trek is especially suitable for trekkers who want to explore more in a shorter period. Dzongri La (viewpoint) in Dzongri is the best viewpoint in the entire Sikkim Himalayas.
As you trek through the enchanting landscapes of Sikkim, you'll pass through lush forests, vibrant meadows, and quaint villages, offering a glimpse into the local way of life. The route to Dzongri is a mix of scenic beauty and cultural discovery, where trekkers can interact with local communities and experience their traditions.
The trail is moderate in difficulty, making it accessible for most trekkers, while still providing a challenge. The highlight, of course, is reaching Dzongri La, where the panoramic views of Kanchenjunga and other towering peaks are absolutely breathtaking, leaving an indelible impression on anyone lucky enough to witness it.

Arrive at Siliguri / New Jalpaiguri by noon and proceed to Yuksom by reserved vehicle (Travel time: 7 hours / Altitude : Approx. 5850 feet ). Evening at leisure for acclimatization. O/N stay in Yuksom.

Trek Day 01 :
Post breakfast we begin the trek from Yuksom to Sachen located at an altitude of about 7500 feet. ( Distance : Approx. 9 km / Trek duration: 4 hours ). O/N camping at Sachen. ( Altitude gain : 1650 feet ).

Trek Day 02 :
Post breakfast we begin the trek from Sachen to Tsokha located at an altitude of about 10,000 feet via Bakhim. ( Distance : Approx. 7 km / Trek duration: 4-5 hours ). O/N camping at Tsokha. ( Altitude gain : 2500 feet ).

Trek Day 03 :
Post breakfast we begin the trek from Tsokha to Dzongri located at an altitude of about 13,200 feet via Deorali Top. ( Distance : Approx. 12 km / Trek duration: 7-8 hours ). O/N camping at Dzongri. ( Altitude gain : 3200 feet ).

Trek Day 04 :
This is the summit day ! Early morning climb up to Dzongri Top to get a breathtaking view of sunrise and Kanchenjunga Peak. Return to the camp for breakfast and later start descending to Tsokha. ( Distance : Approx. 12 km / Trek duration: 5 hours ). O/N camping at Tsokha.

Trek Day 05 :
Post breakfast we begin the trek from Tsokha to Yuksom. ( Distance: Approx. 16 km / Trek duration: 7-8 hours ). On arrival transfer to hotel. O/N stay in Yuksom.

After breakfast depart for Siliguri / New Jalpaiguri by reserved vehicle ( Travel time : Approx. 7-8 hours ). On the way visit the famous Pelling Monastery. On arrival depart for respective destination by air / train. Trekking expedition ends.
